Abstract

Music preferences represent a complex phenomenon shaped by a wide range of psychological, educational, social, and cultural factors. Understanding why individuals prefer particular types of music is of considerable importance to the fields of music education and the psychology of music. The introductory section of this scholarly monograph examines the factors that influence the formation of individual music preferences, considering both the characteristics of the music itself and those of the listener. The following chapter presents the principal models of music preference. The third chapter explores the relationship between personality traits and music preferences, while the fourth examines the interplay between emotions and music. The concluding chapter highlights the significance of research on music preferences for both scholarly inquiry and professional practice in music education and the psychology of music.
