Milena Roller-Halačev (1920–2012) was a prominent Croatian pedagogue who was active during the second half of the twentieth century. She belonged to the first generation of theorists and practitioners of institutional early childhood and preschool education. She worked as a high school professor at the Škola za odgajatelje u Zagrebu (School for Preschool Teachers in Zagreb). She published numerous scientific and professional papers topically related to the fields of children’s play and toys, leisure activities, introducing children to their environment, and similar subjects. The book presents a retrospective selection of articles and discussions organized into thematic sections (The Child, Toy, Picture Book; Nature – a Source of Initial Knowledge; Montessori Pedagogy, etc.). The book enriches the national pedagogical heritage.
