Catholic Parishes in Southern Baranja in the 18th Century"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of this paper is to analyse child mortality and the causes of infant and child deaths based on data contained in a database created from the records of death registers for the population in the Catholic parishes of southern Baranja in the 18th century. The approach to data analysis is primarily descriptive, with basic descriptive statistics applied to determine trends in the number of deceased children by decade, the proportion of deceased children in the total population, and the age and gender structure of child mortality. These serve as a historical-demographic basis for analysing causes of death according to frequency, age groups, gender, and seasonal occurrence. The obtained results are compared with research findings from other areas in Croatia during the 18th century, as well as the 19th century, given the relatively limited number of studies on child mortality and, in particular, causes of child death in Croatia in general, especially for the period before the 19th century.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The aim of this paper is to analyse child mortality and the causes of infant and child deaths based on data contained in a database created from the records of death registers for the population in the Catholic parishes of southern Baranja in the 18th century.
