The Department was founded together with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, which developed from the former Teacher Education College and the Department of Humanities as a new constituent unit of the University of Split, itself established in 1974.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the relatively short but productive period of fifteen years, numerous lecturers, researchers and scholars from art history and related humanities disciplines, as well as from other related fields of research, contributed to the study of art history in Split at undergraduate and graduate levels and within the postgraduate doctoral programme in Humanities (Art History module).
