This paper briefly presents Hiele\u2019s theory of the development of geometric reasoning and geometric content through the teaching of mathematics in primary schools, which should lead to the development of students\u2019 geometric reasoning. According to Hiele\u2019s theory, appropriate activities develop students\u2019 geometric reasoning and enable students\u2019 progress through levels. The paper presents the survey conducted among 316 students in lower grades of primary school, with the aim to determine whether students make progress according to Hiele\u2019s levels in the first four grades of primary school.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Van Hiele theory of the development of geometric reasoning presumes a level of student thinking in the field of geometry, which does not depend on the age of students.
