Split \u010cakavian at the beginning of 20th century was under the strong influence of nearby \u0160tokavian idioms so the town of Split had started to lose its primal \u010cakavian features. Templates for analysis were texts: Na\u0161 bidni tovar (Our poor donkey), Kun Frane i njegov tovar (Godfather Frane and his donkey), Ni ni tovar luda be\u0161tija (Not even a donkey is a stupid animal), \u0160torija jednega tovara (A donkey\u2019s tale). Special details of Split\u2019s labourers\u2019 lives have been connected with that animal. Analysis includes morphological features within forms of declensional, conjugational and unchangeable words.
